Outdoor Christmas Gifts of 2021

Every Christmas my husband and I give each other a list of gifts we want/need. Several of the ideas are outdoor items. After almost 19 years together it is getting more difficult to come up with gear we want or need. This past Christmas we got the least amount of gear ever. My husband got a few things for ice fishing and hunting, but not much for our family outdoor adventures. The things we did get I am pretty happy with.

Casemate Pelican Marine Series Waterproof Floating Pouch: After visiting Niagara Falls and our kayaking trips this past year I decided I needed some sort of waterproof phone case that I can still take pictures with. My husband got me a great one. The Casemate Pelican Marine Series Waterproof Floating pouch was a little challenging to figure out how to open it. I was afraid I was going to break the opening part. Once I figured it out, it is pretty easy to open. I can still use the phone when in the case. It also has a floatation component to it. If dropped in water it should float for a few minutes. I am excited to try it on our water adventures.

Point Below Lighter: Shopping for my husband is hard, he is very picky or buys most items he wants. During the year I keep a list of gift ideas. I saw the Point Below Lighter on social media and thought it would be perfect for him. It is a USB rechargeable water and wind proof lighter. It has up to 300 lights in one charge. We have used it once during a winter hike. It was wet out and he was very happy with how easy it was to use. A bonus is when the wind comes up, you can still use it.

Stuntman Chest Harness for Cell Phones: Every year my husband asks if I want a Go Pro. I initially think I do, but I think it would sit in the closet like my camera does. When I am skiing, kayaking and even hiking I like to take video’s. My husband found this chest harness that my phone fits perfectly in and is comfortable to wear. I used it on a recent hike to take videos and I was very happy how easy it was to use and I could barely tell I was wearing it. It tilts so I could also use All Trails map on my phone like a portable gps without holding my phone. I know that may be getting kind of lazy, but helpful on a new trail.

With Christmas money and end of the year discounts I ordered two hiking books.

60 Hikes within 60 Mile of Boston: As the title says this books identifies 60 trails within 60 miles of Boston. Living on the New Hampshire/Massachusetts border it is sometimes nice to have options in the Boston area, I am excited to check out some urban hiking.

Haunted Hikes of New Hampshire: There are so many cool haunted trails in New Hampshire with some interesting history I frequent Monson Village, but there are so many more in the state and I cannot wait to check them out.
