Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are both very popular casinos in Connecticut. Located just 15 minutes from each other these casinos offer so much more than just gambling. During our summer vacation my husband, 14 year old daughter and myself visited both casinos and below is our takeaway of each. My husband and I have been to both casinos, but it has been several years. This was our teenage daughters first visit.
Activities for kids/teens or those who do not want to gamble: Both casinos have venues for a variety of shows. Foxwoods seemed to have more activities such as on-site go-carts, VR games, bowling, zip lining, arcade, hiking trails and top golf for those over 21. Mohegan Sun had an arcade and off site arcade. We couldn’t find much else for kids/teens to do.
Easy to navigate/decor: Mohegan Sun was easier to navigate and more aesthetically pleasing than Foxwoods. I love the indoor waterfall and large glass sculpture at Mohegan Sun. I had difficulty navigating around Foxwoods.
Shopping: Foxwoods had outlet shopping with better prices and more options for shopping. We saw a lot of sales happening. Mohegan Sun had limited stores and they were expensive.
Restaurants: Foxwoods has a lot of high end restaurants, we did not see much for quick service options. At Mohegan Sun many of the restaurants were closed, but had a good variety of options from fast food to high end.
Parking is free at both
Both had lodging if you want to spend the night.
We liked Foxwoods for the activities and shopping. We liked Mohegan Sun for the atmosphere and food. Both are great day trip options or if you want to spend the night. With them being so close to each other you can easily do both in one day. Let me know which casino you like the most.
