Exploring Metrowest

Metrowest is the towns in Massachusetts that are west of Boston and east of Worcester. We finally had a Saturday free of sports and decided to do some exploring of places I had on my list to visit in this area.

Breakfast: Our first stop was breakfast at our favorite cafe in Groton, Salt and Light. Everything is delicious and well prepared from their bagels, pastries, coffee, tea and so much more.

Hike: Lake Williams Boardwalk. This boardwalk has been on my to visit list for a while. This is a 1.5 mile loop around Lake Williams. A half mile of the hike is on a floating boardwalk that goes over Lake Williams.

Hike: Danforth Fall located in Hudson, Massachusetts. Unfortunately I didn’t take into account the lack of rain this summer. The waterfall was pretty dried up, but it was still a nice walk in the woods.

Pick Your Own Flowers: Ferjulian’s Farm located in Hudson, Massachusetts is a farm stand and pick your own flower farm. Located behind the farm stand is a small tent where you can either get a basket to pick flowers or a glass mason jar depending on how much you want. They also provide clippers. There are many rows of several different type of flowers. We spent about an hour exploring the flowers and making our own bouquet.

Lunch: Our daughter has been asking to go to Raising Cain’s Chicken. We found one in Marlborough. For fast food it was not bad. They are famous for their Cains Sauce, which is similar to a Chick-a-Filet Sauce.

Lastly, we stopped and checked out a trail my husband will be running for a race in a couple weeks. Noon Hill Reservation is located in Medfield, Massachusetts. We just checked out the trail map on the kiosk and walked down to a small pond. The trails seem nice and appears there is variety of easy to moderate trails.

Overall, we enjoyed our adventure and seeing new places just an hour from home. Just remember you do not have to travel far to have a great adventure.
