Furnace Brook Falls
Located near Souhegan Ambulance and Old Tenney Road on Turnpike Road in New Ipswich, New Hampshire is short path that goes down to Furnace Brook Falls. There is a granite marker on Turnpike Road marking the donation of the trail and a sign on a tree that says Furnace Brook Trail. You can park along the road or on the side of Old Tenney Road.
The start of the trail is behind the granite post. Follow the trail down a little hill into the woods. Furnace Brook Falls will be off to the left. It is just a few hundred feet from the road. This is a great spot to sit on the rocks and enjoys the falls. I would not swim here as I do not feel the water is very clean. When we had a dog we would bring her here to swim.
There is a trail called Furnace Brook Trail or Geoffer’s Trail that continues downstream following yellow markers along Furnace Brook for about a mile to a field. Over the years the trail has become very overgrown. I do not feel it is a good trail anymore. If you are lookin for a hike in town I highly recommend Kidder Mountain about three miles north.
While you are in New Ipswich make sure you stop at White Cap Coffee for coffee, tea, breakfast or lunch. It is one of our all time favorite coffee shops.
